Wow! What a beautiful little film, gorgeous scenery, music etc. And how amazing to have tea growing in the Waikato. I live in Hamilton and saw the item on Rural Delivery this morning so looked it up online. I have friends in Assam in India who run tea plantations there and I know they will be fascinated to read about you and your plantations.

Well, as a born and bred Kiwi, I can only say, I love Zealong tea! We were introduced to oolong by Taiwanese friends, then we discovered Zealong. We have visited several times - over an hours drive, but worth every trip! We've brought Kiwi, Taiwanese and Chinese friends to see you, and taken Zealong tea to other Chinese friends to share. We feel very proud when the Chinese and Taiwanese say that it is Very Good Tea - they've all been impressed without fail - high praise from native oolong dri

I am not currently a tea drinker, I am pleased you have made New Zealand your home and have created a horticulture business here in Hamilton.

Your tea looks to be VERY high quality and I would love to try great oolong tea from New Zealand's only tea garden, but I live in the U.S. and your prices are a little high for me. In the future, it would be great if your prices could be lowered a little and your product was made more available. It is great to see you guys growing it ORGANICALLY and keeping with traditional oolong making. I love to see tea companies like this, that grow organically, pay their workers a sustainable wage, and o

Thanks Matthew. There are no firm plans to commercialise our Jinxuan into oolong tea, but here in the world of Zealong, anything's possible! We'll keep you posted.

Thanks Cissy! I appreciate your responses.
Do you think you will end up selling your Jinxuen commercially? Jinxuen is up there along with Qingxin on my list of oolong favorites.

Our oolong tea is produced using the Chin-shin Oolong cultivar. We're also growing a small amount of Jinxuan Oolong but we're not using this commercially for any tea at this stage.

Matthew, thanks for your comments.

To answer your questions: we don't actually use charcoal to roast Zealong Dark, as it doesn't comply with our ISO22000 HACCP food safety certification. However, roasting time is longer and temperature is higher than with our Aromatic and Pure flavour tones, giving Zealong Dark an authentic 'charcoal' flavour and smell.

I'm really looking forward to trying this tea.

I have a couple of questions though, since I couldn't find the FAQ.
1. The dark tea description says there are hints of charcoal. Is that particular style charcoal roasted?
2. What oolong cultivar is used to produce zealong oolong tea?

Best.

It is the best tea I have tasted. It tastes so pure and clean. I do not mind paying the little extra at least I know that it is organic and safe.
Well done!!! I wished it were more easily accessible for us in North America.

Mmmmm my dad brought me a packet of Pure Zealong. So delicious and fresh. I'm a green tea addict but this stuff is amazing. So light and fresh and it doesn't have the bitterness my usual supermarket stuff has. I will agree the price scares me but omgoodness so worth it. It will be my special treat tea. Yummy! Thank you!!

Marius, thanks for your honest feedback. Yes, the other comments here are all positive and enthusiastic, but we are happy to publish yours as well :) Price is a relative concept. NZ is NOT a low wage country, and it IS expensive to produce tea to the world's highest food safety standards. However, a growing number of tea drinkers around the world are prepared to pay a little extra for Zealong's freshness, flavour, fragrance - and guaranteed purity. I hope at some point you get the opportunity to

I am sorry but over 30 EUR for 100g of your tea is way too expansive even if this is supposed to be an ecological product! Of course all comments left are so positive and enthusiastic, I wonder if you will keem mine?

Hi Andrew. Great that you love our Aromatic. At present we produce oolong tea in three flavour tones: pure, aromatic and dark.
Without giving away too many trade secrets, I can tell you our tea master has been experimenting with other forms of the golden beverage, and Vincent is thinking of bringing these to market at some point in time.
Stay tuned for updates :)

I am enjoying a cup of your Aromatic roast tea. It is lovely, perhaps the best oolong I have tasted. Congratulations. Will you prepare other types of tea in the future?
