The tea estate
Zealong tea comes from single source: grown on one of Zealong’s two plantations, processed and packed in our tea factory.
Zealong’s original three hectare Rototuna plantation lies on the outskirts of Hamilton city, in New Zealand’s pristine Waikato region. Its plants thrive in the mild climate and can produce as much as 4.5 tonnes of only the most tender leaves, which are then processed on site in the state-of-the-art tea factory.
Zealong staff are hand picked from Taiwan’s tea growing regions. These highly skilled workers know the art of tea making, from picking and drying, all the way through to grading and packing. They oversee local and Taiwanese seasonal tea pickers and ensure Zealong’s rigorous quality standards are followed. Zealong’s superb fragrance and flavour is testament to the skills of our craftspeople.
In nearby Gordonton, Vincent's latest dream is taking shape with the new 48ha Zealong Tea Estate.
Planting is well progressed, with 10ha of tea already in full production. The estate is also home to Zealong's Visitor Centre, pavilion, and Camellia Tea House. Stunning views, beautiful gardens, fine food - and of course delicious Zealong tea - make the estate a beautiful place to visit any time of year.
