CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE

Thanks so much to all of you who've sent messages of support and concern following the recent earthquake in Christchurch.

First, let us assure you were all safe and well, and Zealong's business is...well...business as usual.

Here we're fortunate to be at the other end of the country - around 700km as the crow flies. We didn't feel the quake or the many many aftershocks, but we do feel a profound sense of sadness and loss - something the whole nation shares.

It's a testing time - NZ is a small place and almost everyone you meet has some connection with Christchurch. "I took my kids up the Cathedral spire just last month, and now it's collapsed...", or " My firend lives in Taylor's Mistake and his whole street's gone." Sad, and very personal.

But this is New Zealand, and we're good at collectively picking ourselves off the floor and getting back to work (it's probably not a good time to joke, but we've had plenty of practice at picking oursleves off the floor after every Rugby World Cup!)

Everyone's now looking for leadership, and there will be interesting conversations ahead about sharing a vision for rebuilding Chch. The financial cost is going to be enormous.

Thanks again - the Zealong team
